TIACA Announces Results of Executive Elections

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) announced the results of its Executive Elections for the 2024-2025 term.

Steven Polmans has been re-elected and will remain Chair for the next two years and following a change to the Governance rules to enable two Vice Chairs to be appointed, Emir Pineda and Roos Bakker have been duly elected.

Following a successful four years serving the membership and industry, TIACA is pleased to announce that Chair Steven Polmans will continue his work at the association’s helm for the next two years. Emir Pineda, Miami International Airport and Roos Bakker, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol have been elected to serve as co-Vice Chairs and will also take on the role of Secretary and Treasurer.

Following the recent success of the association, which has seen membership growth, and new industry beneficial programs such as BlueSky being launched, the TIACA Trustees agreed a revision to the Bylaws facilitating extended Board mandates, including a possible third term for the Chair and Vice-Chair, the Board of Directors then elected an additional term for the current Chair to ensure there was stability of leadership and a long-term focus at the Board level.

The changes to the Bylaws now require that there are two Vice Chairs who will work alongside each other and the Chair to ensure a smooth transition when the time comes to elect a new Chair.

The Board has complete confidence that this will facilitate even greater success for the association in its objective to support the industry.

“Receiving the Board of Directors’ re-appointment is deeply appreciated, and I’m thankful for their unwavering support”, stated Steven Polmans, Chair.

“Both the industry and our association have a lot on their respective plates and I am dedicated to ensuring that we continue to serve our members and the industry effectively.

“I eagerly anticipate carrying out the directives set forth by the Board, maintaining a focus on membership, advocacy, partnerships, knowledge, sustainability, and events. Working closely with outgoing Vice Chair Sanjeev Ghadia over the last four years has been a pleasure, and I’m immensely grateful for his tremendous camaraderie and support.

“I eagerly look forward to collaborating with our new co-Vice Chairs, Emir Pineda and Roos Bakker, as we embark on this journey together.

“Seeing the progress that TIACA has made over the past several years, I am proud to take on this commitment as Vice Chair. I look forward to working alongside Steven Polmans and Roos Bakker to ensure we are meeting the needs of our membership and of course the industry.” stated Emir Pineda, Vice-Chair and Treasurer

“TIACA has made great strides over the past several years and I am humbled to have been appointed as Vice-Chair for the next two years. TIACA has earned a reputation as the only association that unites all of air cargo. I am excited to get started and continue to push forward with our work.” stated Roos Bakker, Vice Chair and Secretary

“The TIACA Board has aggressively pursued a new strategic direction for the association following the transformation program commenced in 2020” stated Glyn Hughes, Director General.

“Strong governance, which is continually reviewed, ensures the Association is run with the highest standards possible for the benefit of its members.

“Association neutrality and financially viability are established in the Association bylaws which are under the purview of the Trustees.

“Association programs are designed to support the industry with key challenges in the areas of sustainability, digitalization, market intelligence, people issues including the need for an inclusive and diverse workforce as well as critical focus on safety, security, innovation, and collaborative partnerships.

“Collectively the programs are designed to meet the needs of our members, who are the real drivers of this association.”
