Nippon Express Holdings completes cargo-partner deal

Nippon Express Holdings, Inc. has successfully completed the acquisition of multiple subsidiaries of cargo-partner Group Holding AG, a significant move in the global logistics sector.

The share transfer agreement, finalized on May 12, 2023, involved cargo-partner subsidiaries, including Multi Transport und Logistik Holding AG, Safer Overseas Transport Holding GmbH, cargo-partner GND GmbH, and CARGO-PARTNER US HOLDINGS INC.

The transaction, executed through a special purpose company fully owned by Nippon Express Europe GmbH, a European holding subsidiary of Nippon Express Holdings, was finalized on January 4, 2024 (Austria time).

All necessary procedures to officially designate these acquired companies as subsidiaries of Nippon Express Holdings have been successfully completed.

Austria-based cargo-partner is renowned for its robust logistics business base in Central and Eastern Europe, an emerging industrial cluster in the European region.

Specializing primarily in air and ocean freight forwarding in Europe, Asia, and North America, cargo-partner also offers rail and truck transport, along with contract logistics services.

The integration of cargo-partner into Nippon Express Group’s portfolio is expected to enhance the logistics infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe. This region is anticipated to experience substantial growth as a production hub within Europe. The move will enable Nippon Express Group to expand its global network and improve services in the European region.

The expanded volume of air and ocean freight operations is poised to strengthen the group’s competitiveness in the global market. This strategic acquisition positions Nippon Express Group to meet the diverse demands of its global customers, enhance logistical capabilities between Asia and Europe, and fortify its global account structure.

Given the distinct customer bases and strengths in specific countries and regions between Nippon Express Group and cargo-partner, both entities aim to create synergies in their logistics operations through mutual complementation. This collaborative approach is expected to expedite the expansion and development of their global businesses.
