Liege Airport has recorded strong growth in cargo volumes during the third quarter of 2025, reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s leading freight hubs.
The Belgian airport handled 334,956 tonnes of freight between July and September, a 23% increase on the same period last year, when it processed 272,210 tonnes. Aircraft movements also rose by 9% to 7,262 cargo flights.
Chief executive Laurent Jossart said the results reflected both short- and long-term progress: “For Q3 2025, our air cargo community processed 334,956 tonnes of freight, representing a significant and robust 23% growth. Year to date, Liege Airport is showing a growth of 14.4%.”
The rise was driven by strong inbound e-commerce flows and a 26% year-on-year increase in European exports, highlighting the airport’s growing role in supporting the continent’s trade.
Over the first nine months of 2025, Liege Airport handled 961,640 tonnes of freight, cementing its status as Europe’s leading full-freighter airport. The facility specialises in handling perishables, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, express parcels and live animals.
A report by France Aviation Civile Services placed Liege among the world’s top five cargo airports for freight growth between 2019 and 2024, with volumes up 29% over that period.
“This performance confirms our strategy of being a sustainable, efficient and multimodal European logistics hub,” Mr Jossart said.
