FIA18: DHL Express orders 14 Boeing 777Fs

DHL Express today ordered 14 777 Freighters with Boeing at the Farnborough International Airshow as part of its fleet renewal programme.

The express carrier also has purchase rights for seven additional 777F which have a payload of 102 tonnes and it part of the $4.7 billion deal.

The order will double the size of DHL’s global 777 fleet, allowing more markets and customers to benefit from the aircraft and the move is to meet growing demand for global express capacity as e-commerce booms.

Executive vice president of global network operations and aviation, Charlie Dobbie said: “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of 14 new 777 Freighters as we renew part of our long-haul fleet with this best in class fuel efficient freighter type that will make a significant step towards DHL’s zero emissions target by 2050.
