Bangkok Flight Services lifts import goods embargo ahead of schedule

Bangkok Flight Services (BFS) has announced the early end of its embargo on import goods following successful clearance of a backlog resulting from a surge in volumes.

Initially planned to run until Sunday, February 18, the embargo, which had been enforced from Monday, February 12, was lifted ahead of schedule today at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The backlog stemmed from increased demand during the Lunar New Year break and a modal shift to sea-air prompted by the Red Sea crisis.

In a statement to Air Cargo News, BFS explained: “We can confirm we have now lifted the short embargo placed on import general cargo at Bangkok Airport, which was put in place to manage the sudden surge in volume resulting from the modal shift response to the Red Sea crisis as well as higher demand leading into the start of the Chinese New Year.”
